Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 31, 2026

Altus Leadership is a 100% volunteer-operated 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We collect only the information we need to run our programs, stay in touch with our community, and accept donations, and we never sell it. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect, and why

Volunteer applications

When you apply to volunteer, we collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), the areas or positions you’re interested in, your availability, and anything you choose to tell us about yourself. We use this only to review your interest and get in touch with you. It’s emailed to our team and stored securely on our website, where only logged-in Altus team members can see it.

Event registration

When you register for an Altus event on Zoom, we collect your name, email address, and organization or school (optional), plus your answers to any optional questions, such as how you heard about us and whether you’re interested in volunteering. This information is sent to Zoom to create your registration and your personal join link, and it’s used to run the event and, if you’ve said you’re interested, to follow up about volunteering. Zoom’s handling of your information is covered by Zoom’s privacy statement.

Donations

Donations are processed by Zeffy, a free fundraising platform for nonprofits. Zeffy and its payment processors handle your payment details; Altus never sees or stores your full card or bank information. We receive your name, contact details, and donation amount so we can send your tax receipt, thank you, and recognize Founding Members. Zeffy’s handling of your information is covered by Zeffy’s privacy policy.

Email updates

When you join our community, we collect your name and email address through Zeffy so we can send you news about Altus, our programs, and ways to get involved. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any of our emails.

Contacting us

If you email or call us, we use your details only to respond to you.

Founding Member recognition

We thank our Founding Members on our website by first name and last initial. If you’d prefer not to be listed, let us know at info@altusleadership.org and we’ll remove your name.

Who we share information with

We don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with the services that help us run Altus, and only as needed for them to do so:

  • Zoom, for event registration and hosting.
  • Zeffy and its payment processors, for donations and email updates.
  • Our website host, which stores this website and the volunteer applications submitted through it.
  • Our email provider, which delivers form notifications to our team.

We may also share information if the law requires it.

Cookies and embedded content

Our website doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. WordPress sets a few cookies only for team members who log in. Our donation and sign-up forms are embedded from Zeffy, and Zeffy may set its own cookies to make those forms work; the same applies if you follow our links to Zoom or to our social media pages. Those cookies are governed by each company’s own policy.

Young people

Our programs serve high school and college students, but this website isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

How long we keep information

We keep volunteer applications and contact details only as long as we need them to work with you, and we delete them when they’re no longer needed or when you ask. Donation records are kept as long as the law requires for tax and accounting purposes.

Your choices

You can ask us at any time to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, or to stop contacting you. Just email info@altusleadership.org and we’ll respond as quickly as we can.

Keeping information safe

Our website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, and access to the information we collect is limited to the Altus team members who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to protect what you share with us.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
